In a game that featured an hour-plus weather delay, Maryland baseball pulled off the heroics in the early hours of Friday morning after a walk-off home run from Nick Lorusso gave the Terps a 2-1 win over Nebraska in the Big Ten Tournament.
Lorusso’s walk-off home run and his 22nd of the season marked the first ever walk-off at Charles Schwab Field as Maryland moves on in the Big Ten Tournament with now two chances to make the championship game.
Nebraska opened the scoring in the second inning after Nick Dean allowed the first two batters on base after a hit by pitch and walk, leading to a sac hit. Maryland would even the score in the bottom of the fifth after Kevin Keister opened the frame with a double before Matt Shaw brought him home two at-bats later.
Dean allowed just two hits and one run to go along with five strikeouts in 6.1 innings in a strong outing.
With a days rest now, Maryland will await the winner of Michigan State-Nebraska for a 1 PM pitch on Saturday afternoon.
