New Jersey OL gets first look at Maryland

Maryland became the latest offer for 2025 Paramus Catholic (NJ) interior offensive lineman Malachi Goodman last week, and just days later, he returned the favor by paying the Terps a visit.

“I felt like I’ve got to check out colleges,” Goodman told IBG. “They offered me, so I knew I had to check it out.”

Goodman has been on just four college visits with his junior year now underway, previously taking trip to Rutgers and Temple along with Boston College’s season-opening loss to Northern Illinois. Nebraska was the first school to offer back in May with Michigan, Miami (FL) and Boston College following suit, but Saturday did mark his first trip to College Park as he got a chance to connect with the staff in-person.

“I talked to coach [Mike] Locksley pregame then coach [Brian] Braswell and coach [Henry] Baker after the game,” Goodman said. “I loved it. Locks was getting to know me, telling me a little bit about the program, the type of year they expect to have.” With Baker leading as the area recruiter, Saturday gave Goodman a good first impression of his position coach.

“He’s very cool. He’s a cool coach, cool dude,” Goodman said.

Goodman also spent pregame inside Jones-Hill House where he got a tour of the building. “I checked out the facility. It’s really nice, and new. Loved that.”

Goodman was also among the recruits at midfield watching the Terps warmup before he kept a close eye on his position group.

“I watched the [offensive] line a little bit. They were fast paced. They play fast, run scheme, but it’s fast.”

Goodman is in the process of scheduling visits to Penn State and West Virginia, while he plans to visit Nebraska in October.

Malachi Goodman is not yet rated by On3.
