New Jersey Edge Rusher Looking to Set Return Visit to Maryland

It’s only been a matter of days since Timber Creek (NJ) three-star defensive end Brahim Wynn picked up an offer from Maryland after assistant coach Henry Baker trekked through his school. The 6-foot-3, 232-pound edge rusher made the trip in with his full family and left College Park wanting to set up a return trip.

“It was a fun experience. I’m probably going to come back up there in the springtime,” Wynn told IBG. “They really loved me. I talked to probably my future position coach if I go there and the person that recruits my area.” With family in the area, Wynn took advantage of the opportunity to visit and proximity was something that also stuck out. “It’s really close to home, it’s only two hours and I have some family in Baltimore.”

Saturday’s visit was highlighted by Wynn’s first chance to meet outside linebacker coach James Thomas as they begin building the relationship. “He’s a really down to earth type of coach. I had a couple of conversations with him throughout the day. We ended up going to the basketball game and he sat right near us.” Wynn knows he’s a prospect the staff is high on as they look to recharge the New Jersey connection for the second consecutive cycle. “We talked about that when Baker came to my school because the need for edge rushers around the country is what they’re looking for right now. They recruited DJ Samuels from New Jersey and they want me playing the same position as him.”

It also helped that his cousins, Toms River North (NJ) ATH Tareq Council and Wilson (NJ) edge rusher Fatim Diggs, also picked up offers on the trip but meeting head coach Mike Locksley also stuck out. “Having an African American head coach is a big thing for me because you really don’t see that at a lot of schools, so that’s a good thing for me in my recruiting process.”

Wynn is rated a three-star prospect and an 83 overall by On3, sitting as the 25th-best prospect in New Jersey.
