Maryland releases injury report vs. Nebraska

Maryland will have a longer list of inactives against Nebraska on Saturday with several underclassmen sidelined.

Linebacker Neeo Avery, running backs Ramon Brown and Nolan Ray, wide receiver Ryan Manning, safeties Tamarcus Cooley and Alex Moore, wide receiver Ricardo Cooper and defensive lineman Daniel Owens are all ruled out.

Punter Colton Spangler and defensive lineman Isaac Bunyun are both questionable heading into kickoff. Spangler has taken all 33 punts so far this season, averaging over 43 yards with seven 50+ yard punts in nine games. Bunyun, meanwhile, has stepped up in the defensive line rotation over the last two seasons and is an integral piece to the Terps’ answer in how to limit Nebraska’s rushing attack.

Offensive lineman Marcus Dumervil, defensive lineman Lavon Johnson and tight end Dylan Wade are also listed as questionable heading into kickoff.

Meanwhile, fans still await the debut of former four-star Neeo Avery, who was limited in his return to practice this week as head coach Mike Locksley touched on his progress.

“He’s just on his normal return to play protocol. He’s got cleared to start running, doing some simulated football practice stuff, but still no new update as to if and when the return is,” Locksley added.

Defensive back Quinton Newsome is the lone Husker ruled out against Maryland, though his departure is notable. Newsome has started in all but one game this season and started in 25 of his last 26 games, totaling 33 tackles and three pass breakups this season.

Kickoff is set for 12 PM on Peacock. Both teams head into Saturday’s game at 5-4 with bowl eligibility to play for.
