Maryland OL DJ Glaze entering the 2024 NFL Draft

Maryland will now have five new starters in 2024 after veteran offensive lineman DJ Glaze made his plans official, announcing he’ll bypass his senior season and enter the 2024 NFL Draft.

The pro route became evident after Glaze became the second Terp to accept his invite to the Reese’s Senior Bowl, set for Feb. 3, 2024. His official announcement comes one day after Corey Bullock and Gottlieb Ayedze announced plans to enter the upcoming NFL Draft.

Glaze was the prize of the offseason as his stay-or-go decision could have altered the outlook for Maryland’s starting offensive line in 2024, but the potential day-two selection will now look to become the third Maryland offensive lineman to be drafted over the last two years, joining Jaelyn Duncan (Titans) and Spencer Anderson (Steelers).

“It’s probably one of hardest decisions you’ll ever have to make so just trying to analyze the pros and cons of both sides of it,” Glaze said about his stay-or-go decision ahead of the bowl game. “Still trying to work on exactly what I want to do. Like I said, there’s pros to both sides so at the end of the day, it really just comes down to how comfortable am I with the decision that I have to make. I feel like I’m getting pretty close here. Just trying to really right now get ready for the bowl game, play there then that’ll probably clear things up going forward.”

Glaze became a bigger piece in the trenches during the 2021 season, appearing in all 13 games with six starts all at tackle and four on the right side. Since then, Glaze has become an impact piece for Maryland after starting the next 27 games and ends his college career as a third-team All-Big Ten selection.

DJ Glaze started his team-high 29th consecutive game against Auburn in the Music City Bowl and was the second highest-rated pass-blocking tackle in the Big Ten (83.1), per Pro Football Focus. Glaze was the lone consistent blocker over the last three seasons for quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa as he posted consecutive 3,000-yard passing seasons.

DJ Glaze inked with Maryland as a former three-star prospect out of West Mecklenburg (NC) in the 2020 class.
