Maryland football is roughly one month away from the start of spring ball with the first practice set for Tuesday, March 26, per release, with the annual Red-White game set for a noon start on Saturday, April 27. Maryland will also host its Pro Day on Friday, March 29.
Maryland will hold 15 practices in the spring leading up to the Red-White game with the annual spring game set to air live on Big Ten+ on April 27 and will be rebroadcast on the Big Ten Network at 6 PM the same day.
Maryland is coming off consecutive eight-win seasons and three consecutive bowl victories under Mike Locksley as he prepares for his sixth season with the program.
Maryland is coming off a 2023 season in which it posted an 8-5 record and defeated Auburn, 31-13, in the TransPerfect Music City Bowl. The Terps have won a combined 23 games over the last three seasons and have won bowl games in three straight seasons for the first time in school history.
Maryland returns four starters on the offensive side of the ball in 2024, including All-Big Ten selections in running back Roman Hemby and wide receivers Tai Felton and Kaden Prather. The high-powered Terrapins offense ranked top five in the Big Ten in points per game (29.7), yards per game (387.3) and passing yards per game (278.9) last season.
All eyes, though, will be on the developing quarterback competition with former NC State quarterback MJ Morris battling alongside Cam Edge and Billy Edwards Jr. in their third seasons with the program.
The defense returns seven starters from 2023, which allowed just 22.5 points per game in 2023, the fewest points allowed per game for a Terps defense since 2010 (22.2). Returners include Third-Team All-Big Ten selection Ruben Hyppolite II and Honorable Mention All-Big Ten selection Quashon Fuller, while linebacker Fa’Najae Gotay returns for his sixth season with the program. Maryland also added former Bowling Green cornerback Jalen Huskey, who ranked as the third-highest graded transfer cornerback per PFF.
