Local four-stars targets set to visit Maryland next weekend

Maryland is preparing for family weekend in College Park next weekend with less than 10,000 tickets remaining for next Saturday’s football game versus Indiana. The football program will welcome more visitors to campus with a local four-star confirming plans for a return visit, while two top basketball targets are headed their way to campus.

McDonogh (MD) four-star athlete Jeff Exinor is expected to unofficially visit next weekend, marking his first visit of the season. Exinor last made his way to campus for Maryland’s invite-only event on campus back on July 29, the visit when the four-star said his sit down with head coach Mike Locksley “changed my whole perspective” on Maryland.

“I got a chance to talk to coach [Mike] Locksley for a while. I liked it, like it really changed my whole perspective of what they’re trying to do up there, trying to build something special. At first, he was kind of selling the vision, but now he’s focused on trying to get those wins,” Exinor added. “I’m definitely more interested in seeing how they do and what they’re about.”

Maryland is recruiting Exinor, both an edge rursher and receiver, as an athlete early with Brian Braswell chipping in as the area recruiter. Exinor opened the season with a visit to Penn State, another top contender in the early stages of his recruitment.

Exinor won’t be the only four-star as on the basketball side, 2025 Gonzaga (DC) four-star point guard Nyk Lewis will arrive on campus next Saturday. Lewis will make the trip with four-star teammate and top local target, Christian Gurdak, as the staff works to break into the WCAC powerhouse with assistant David Cox leading the way. Maryland was in to see both top local targets this week as head coach Kevin Willard works to get the ball rolling on a loaded local 2025 class. The staff will get a chance to prioritize Lewis on his upcoming visit with neither Chance Mallory nor Tyler Jackson visiting, a message that Lewis is looking to see from the Terps.

“I feel like they actually tried to build the relationship with me. They were asking like my personal stuff, it just felt like good relationship building. Ever since the team camp [last summer], they keep up with me,” Lewis told IBG.

Lewis and Gurdak won’t be alone as 2025 Bullis (MD) top-75 prospect Eric Reibe will unofficially visit Maryland on Saturday. Indiana, Providence, Illinois, Iowa, Georgetown, Maryland, Missouri and Wake Forest have all extended offers to the 6-foot-11 center, while the presence of assistant Mike Jones looms large. Reibe’s mentor through the recruiting process is former Old Dominion guard Rodney Rice, the father of VT guard Rodney Rice Jr., as he and Jones have a strong rapport. That’s kept Maryland in the conversation despite Reibe’s growing interest.

“It was great seeing how the facility is built, how it’s like a family over there and how they practice. Everything is very smooth. I just like how they try to keep in touch with me and how they make a better relationship. They think I’m a great player. I can shoot, dribble, pass and Maryland would be a great place to stay and develop at.”

Exinor is rated a four-star prospect and a 90 overall by On3, sitting as the 184th-best prospect in the country.

Reibe is rated a four-star prospect and a 94 overall by On3, sitting as the 64th-best prospect in the country.

Lewis is rated a four-star prospect and a 94 overall by On3, sitting as the 66th-best prospect in the country and nation’s ninth-best point guard.
