JuCo Tackle Has Weekend In Mind For Official Visit

Maryland’s official visit schedule in December is beginning to take shape with several uncommitted and flip targets finalizing their trips to College Park. With the bulk of the 2023 class already in place, there’s a focus on both sides of the trenches and one D1 bounce back is close to finalizing his trip to Maryland.

“Maryland isn’t set but we’re shooting for December 9,” Iowa Central offensive tackle Daniel Ogundipe told Inside the Black and Gold. “They wanted to get me up for an unofficial as soon as possible but think I’m going to just do the official.”

Maryland has a pair of interior lineman committed so far and have expanded their search for an offensive tackle back into the JuCo ranks with targets like Elijah Philippe, Keyshawn Blackstock and Isaiah Jatta surfacing as new names. As he looks to replace three starters in the trenches next season, offensive line coach Brian Braswell remains the point man in the recruitment of the 6-foot-5.5, 295-pound tackle target pitching a path to early playing time. “It’s been a good process, I’m happy getting to know him because Maryland is definitely a potential place that I go. It’s been good building a relationship with him.”

Missouri, Kansas, Arizona State, Purdue and Indiana are among the schools in pursuit but Ogundipe explains why he said “Maryland is probably standing out the most.”

“The culture and the opportunity that I get to play early. I get to come in and fight for a spot. And it’s close to home, not too far from Philadelphia. Plus they’ve said they need to play tackles.”

Ogundipe will head to App State this weekend for an official visit while he looks at finalizing the rest of his visits, but given his time already spent at Old Dominion, he knows what he’s looking for at his next step. “Just what they ask of players every day. What’s their team motto, what do they want me to commit to.”

Ogundipe, who allowed just one sack this season, has three years to play three. He is not rated by On3.
