Former ACC lineman fills role in Maryland football’s recruiting department

Maryland has filled a key role in the recruiting department with roughly six weeks until national signing day as Merci Falaise joins the program as general manager for player personnel. Matt Zenitz of On3 was first to report the news.

Falaise joins the program after seven seasons at NC State, where the former Wolfpack lineman first filled the assistant director of player personnel and recruit communications role. Falaise has also served as the Wolpacks’ director of recruiting, director of player personnel and general manager. He announced his departure from NC State on Thursday.

“It has been a great honor and privilege to be here at my alma mater the past 7 seasons. Being a student-athlete here and also being able to serve young people at this great university has been a blessing,” Falaise wrote as he announced his departure.

Falaise joined NC State after four years at Tennessee, first as an offensive GA working with the running backs before moving into the recruiting department. Falaise has also spent time at Garden City C.C. (KS) among other stops.

Merci Falaise joined NC State from Georgia Military College, where he also coached, and is a Greensboro, North Carolina native Maryland was able to add a pair from North Carolina last cycle in four-star Rico Walker and three-star Tamarcus Cooley, though Falaise now adds to the staff’s connections as the Terps work to strengthen its recruiting ties through the Carolinas.

Merci fills a role left vacant by Smoke Dixon, who left the coaching industry ten days ahead of the 2023 season.
