Maryland notched its first eight win season after defeating 23rd-ranked NC State in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl on Friday afternoon. After beginning his tenure with a 3-9 mark, head coach Mike Locksley now has Maryland on the winning side of consecutive bowl appearances as he and the coaching staff build for the future. So what do a handful of local targets think of Maryland targets think of the program with year four in the books?
DeMatha (MD) offensive tackle Terez Davis: “Honestly Maryland is on my top for schools. They didn’t have to win for me to know they could accomplish what they did yesterday. They are a phenomenal team and program. It’s the Coaches that make them top tier.”
Manchester (VA) four-star DE Makai Byerson: “I seen a little bit of the game it was good. It didn’t really make me gain or lose interest in the school but they did have a great season.”
Highland Springs (VA) three-star QB Khris Martin: “It definitely does seeing that they are constantly improving then beating a top 25 opponent shows the potential of the program from following them all season most games they are a few plays away from winning against big time teams so it definitely raises interest that was already there.”
Good Counsel (MD) three-star DE Darien Mayo: “It’s great to see coach locks turning the program in a great direction.”
Oakdale (MD) athlete Evan Austin: “It’s awesome seeing them win that bowl game and seeing them increase their wins over the last few years. They shown a lot of growth and I’ve been loving the program.”
Pallotti (MD) four-star OLB Gabe Williams: “That’s amazing !!! you can see how they are improving. I would much rather them be in the college football playoffs that’s coming soon though.”
King George (VA) four-star WR Chanz Wiggins: “It makes me more interested in them.”
