With its third consecutive win against Indiana, we talk about the impact of Maryland moving to 5-0. Head coach Mike Locksley also had a chance to reflect on that following the win.
“I think the biggest thing is that it validates me. I got a boss that took a chance and hired me, gave me a chance. I’ve been a failed head coach and Damon hired me and gave me this opportunity and all he’s done and him and Colleen give me the resources that I need to be able to put a team together like this one. Are we there yet? No, but the validation for me is the fact that we as a program working with Damon, Colleen and my team, the support staff. We all worked together to get this program to where it is today. And you know what, there are a lot of people that didn’t think we could do this. Are we there yet? No, I mean, we got work to do. But I’m not gonna get negative we’re 5-0. We’re gonna keep this thing going and we’re gonna keep plugging away man.”
Tai Felton became the first player in program history to have three receiving touchdowns in one half, giving him his signature game as he becomes the latest receiver to emerge from the room. Was it a surprise? And what went right for Maryland's passing attack?
While Indiana opened and ended the score with scores, Maryland's defense was largely able to limit the Hoosiers. Indiana finished with 151 fewer yards than Maryland on 21 more plays, so what went right even with star linebacker Jaishawn Barham sidelined?
