The dead period is lifted this week as more prospects begin making their way to college campuses across the country with spring football around the corner and official visits quickly approaching. It won't be his first time to campus after making his way to College Park during his sophomore season, but 2025 Independence (VA) linebacker Jackson Thorne will take his first true unofficial visit to Maryland when he visits on Thursday, March 7. Thorne, a 6-foot-1, 220-pound linebacker out of Ashburn, VA, is set to return to campus in the summer with an official visit to Maryland already set. "I have my official visit June 13-15," Thorne told IBG. Maryland became the first and only Power Five school to extend Thorne an offer as inside linebacker coach Lance Thompson has led the pursuit into the spring. Akron and Elon have extended offers since then as the productive linebacker is coming off consecutive dominant seasons. https://twitter.com/JacksonThorne11/status/1753097940908798352 Maryland does not yet have a linebacker commitment in the 2025 cycle, but with Fa'Najae Gotay and Ruben Hyppolite moving on following the 2024 season, the Terps will likely have two spots to fill in the inside linebacker room and Thorne has the Terps in his top group heading into the spring After becoming the only freshman to be named first-team All-Potomac District in 2021, Thorne posted 112 tackles, including 34 tackles for loss and ten sacks, as a sophomore after bouncing between linebacker and defensive end. The explosive, instinctive linebacker managed to top that as he was named the All-Region 5D defensive player of the year after his senior season, posting 144 total tackles, eight sacks and five touchdowns, along with being named an honorable mention All-MET and first-team All-State selection. Jackson Thorne is not yet rated by On3. Related Links
