Virginia LB returns to Maryland, sets pair of official visits

A long list of regional prospects have made their way to campus since spring practice started with several top targets trekking through campus later this week. Meanwhile, Salem (VA) three-star linebacker Chris Cole picked up an offer earlier this spring and made it back last week for another visit with the staff able to show him a different side of things. “I went to their game in October and then they came to see me in January so I’ve been talking with them closely the whole time,” Cole told IBG. “I was sitting in position meetings and I was talking with the coaches. I was able to see the campus because I went for the game so was able to see everything, get a one-on-one with the coaches. I talked with all the coaches, saw the facilities and their practice. It was good.” https://twitter.com/Chris_Cole3/status/1641180141182230529 The 6-foot-3 linebacker has been steadily hearing from the defensive staff with receivers coach Gunter Brewer tapping into his longtime connection as Maryland catches up in his recruitment, but for now, Cole is enjoying his spring tour that’s led to several visits in recent weeks. Cole made it to Duke and Penn State before visiting Miami this week and he’ll head to an ACC school next. “I’ll be at Notre Dame on April 21.” Cole admits he’s wide open with a pair of official visits already set, the first to Georgia beginning June 16 then Miami on June 22. The remaining three visits are up for grabs as Cole plans to take his recruitment through the summer. “I’d say right now, just trying to see as many schools and check out their practice, see as many styles as possible and learn more about the program then in June, schedule the official that I want then probably commit in late September, early October.” Cole saw his recruitment skyrocket this spring after earning MVP honors at the Gameday Camp in Virginia last month. He also posted as a 12.01 in the 100-meter earlier this spring. Cole is rated a three-star prospect and an 86 overall by On3, sitting as the 27th-best prospect in Virginia.
