Virginia DB getting comfortable with Maryland after latest visit

St. Michael’s (VA) safety Remington Moss watched his recruitment pick up through his sophomore season as Maryland and Pitt helped kick things off. But the local safety made himself a frequent visitor at Maryland and this week, he returned to College Park for his fourth visit since the fall and the 6-foot, 175-pound target is getting comfortable with the Terps’ staff early. That includes his possible new position coach after Tuesday’s visit gave Moss a different perspective than before considering he got a chance to meet Maryland’s expected new safeties coach Zac Spavital. “He was saying this is one of the best staffs he’s been on in one of the best buildings he’s been in,” Moss told IBG. Maryland jumped into the picture for Moss last fall as this week’s visit gave him a chance to talk to multiple staffers. “I got a chance to talk to coach Locksley, coach Baker, coach Spavital. It was good talking with all of them. They want me up there. They keep reaching out trying to see me, trying to build a relationship and it’s not far from home.” Aside from introductions, Spavital gave Moss early feedback as he prepares for his junior season. “He was telling me to make sure I always cross train, make sure I can play both corner and safety.” Head coach Mike Locksley also gave an early stamp of approval during their conversation. “It was good just to sit and have conversations with him like that. He’s let me know he’s liked what he’s seen and he approves the offer.” After watching the team workout, Moss adds he could be back later this month or in April for a spring practice. For now, the rising junior will hit the road to check out a handful of schools for the first time. “South Carolina, UVA, Tennessee, Notre Dame, Duke. I’ll be at Virginia on the 14th, South Carolina on the 18th and Notre Dame on April 1st.” Moss is not yet rated by On3.
