A large group of prospects from Flint Hill made the trip to College Park for a midweek visit and when they returned days later for the Northwestern game, three-star athlete Joshua Clarke joined his teammates. The 6-foot-1, 180-pound athlete had already been to College Park but last weekend’s visit gave him a chance to reacclimatize himself with the facilities.
“We went to the Jones-Hill House. Very nice, got some food and then went to the stadium,” he told Inside the Black and Gold. “I got a more deeper visit so got to see some more things that I hadn’t seen before. I’ve been in the indoor but not really see how big it is and all the stuff it has and the weight room too.”
What impressed him about the gameday atmosphere? “The campus and the students. They all came out to the homecoming game so that was good.” Wide receiver coach Gunter Brewer and inside linebacker coach Lance Thompson have been able to build a relationship, but safeties coach Wes Neighbors is the one running point as the position coach. “I think coach Wes kind of got me on the defensive side and last year I went to the camp strictly for defense so that’s what I’m going to play in college.”
Clarke was impressed with Maryland’s young safety tandem as both came away with interceptions in the win. “I like how the coaches are coaching them. They’re lengthy, talented players that are two ball hawks.”
Clarke stayed for the full game to wait for 2026 quarterback Ty Harris to pick up his verbal offer from the Maryland staff, giving Clarke a special memory with the staff. “They’re aways going to be one of my top schools because it’s home, it’s the crib.”
That won’t be the last time he’s in town with Clarke set to return for the Terps next home game. “I think we’re going to the Ohio State game.” He explains what he wants to see more of on his next visit. “I want to see the locker room, more of the campus and just talk with coach Locksley and build the relationship.” Clarke is not yet rated by On3.
