Maryland was spread through the Carolinas and parts of Georgia ahead of last weekend’s road game against Charlotte. With Maryland returning home to host SMU this weekend, the staff will revisit its local footprint on Friday.
Maryland will have a presence when Gaithersburg takes on Northwest where 2024 running back Gideon Ituka will be in action. Maryland will also have presence at the showdown between DeMatha and Friendship Collegiate with several targets in action, such as South Carolina commit Tosin Babalade, 2024 five-star DE Dylan Stewart, 2024 defensive tackle Emmitt Laws and 2025 quarterback Denzel Gardner among others. The Terps finished as the runner-ups for Tosin to end summer but have kept an open line in hopes of a possible signing day flip. Stewart, meanwhile, recently said that Maryland was one of three schools recruiting him hardest.
Maryland will also be in DC when Gonzaga hosts Spalding, a highly contested revenge game after Spalding walked away with the win last season. Friday’s game will give the staff a chance to watch top-100 prospect DD Holmes, a priority recruit next cycle, terrorize Spalding’s protection. One week after facing Imhotep, Friday night will also be the second big matchup for 2025 quarterback Malik Washington as he looks to establish himself as the next prolific DMV passer.
It doesn’t end there as Good Counsel takes on Mount St. Joseph on Friday evening with the Falcons looking to remain among the most dominant teams in the area. How has Good Counsel ascended locally? Look no further than it’s 2024 class. The Falcons welcome four-star Aaron Chiles as a leader on defense; its rushing attack is led by Dilin Jones, an elusive back who catches well too; wide receiver Elijah Moore reeled in a one-handed catch in his week one win; defensive end Darien Mayo’s 6-foot-6 frame has coaches salivating at his potential; while quarterback Frankie Weaver continues to show progression as a college-ready prospect. Maryland has hosted several of Good Counsel’s top talent on multiple occasions through the offseason as outside linebacker coach James Thomas leads Maryland’s efforts to break back into the WCAC powerhouse.
After spending time through the 757 on Friday afternoon, Maryland will also be in attendance when King & Queen Central hosts Northumberland. That’ll give Maryland a chance to see four-star Tennessee verbal Cam Seldon once more as the staff keeps tabs on his long-term status with the Vols. Maryland finished as the runner-up in his recruitment back in July, but continue to monitor the electric athlete with early playing time to offer at receiver next season. Seldon was one of the most coveted prospects for Maryland this cycle alongside targets like Nyckoles Harbor.Related Links Maryland checks in on 2024 guard (+) Behind Enemy Lines: Maryland vs. SMU 2024 LB Kari Jackson talks Maryland offer (+) Shell-N-Tell: SMUggling A Win Maryland tracking in-state DB (+) Terps in the NFL: Week One Locksley talks defense, Tagovailoa brothers, SMU offense VIP: defensive note, VA presence, update on 2023 target (+)
