A few more rumblings from the recruiting trail, including another priority target who has now set his official visit, another name to know in the linebacker room and a four-star to keep tabs on. But we start off in the trenches, where all the attention has been this offseason.
Maryland will wrap up their official visit with Coffeyville OT Kevin Kalonji on Friday morning and I’m hearing the Terps are in a good spot heading into the morning. Kalonji is a former Avalon lineman and both the opportunity to play close to home along with need for experienced linemen has put the Terps in the mix from the start but Maryland has rolled out the red carpet thus far. The plan remains the same—no OVs set after Maryland.
I’m hearing that King George WR Chanz Wiggins has rescheduled his Duke official to earlier in the month, clearing the way for him to officially visit Maryland the weekend of June 23. Big development with Maryland staying in the picture and now giving both Duke and Virginia Tech a run for their money. I still have WR Mekahi White expected to officially visit next weekend, June 2. I’m now more optimistic on Maryland’s chances for Wiggins. I was also asked about White, where I also see Maryland having a good chance to land him though would keep an eye on Tennessee, Michigan and Arkansas with him during those visits.
I mentioned a few names from Florida who will officially visit Maryland next month and there’s more coming. Another confirmed visitor is Clearwater Academy International (FL) three-star LB Keyari James, who will officially visit Maryland the weekend of June 9. James was among the crew to visit Maryland back in early March for an unofficial visit as ILB coach Lance Thompson has led the way and made his way through the Florida school this month.
I’m also hearing that Maryland is a possibility to receive an official visit from Fitch (OH) four-star edge rusher Brian Robinson. He currently has OVs set to Penn St, Kentucky and Michigan but the late offer from Maryland is one that he’s still considering. He made his way to campus last week and head coach Mike Locksley made his way back to campus from vacation to meet with Robinson before sitting down with him, so he’s a name to keep tabs on as a tentative visitor.Related Links Nick Lorusso's walk-off gives Maryland 2-1 win over Nebraska VIP: notes on upcoming visits (+)
