Mike Locksley is roughly one month away from officially kicking off his sixth season as head coach at Maryland with spring ball already set to begin on Tuesday, March 26. That means the staff will begin watching a long list of local and regional targets make their way to campus, but with the dead period nearly complete, multiple top targets have continued to finalize official visit plans for the summer. That includes four-star Jaylen Gilchrist, who tells IBG he plans to officially visit Maryland beginning June 21. Gilchrist will kick off his round of official visits with a trip to South Carolina beginning May 31, then Virginia beginning June 6, then Georgia beginning June 14 with the Terps currently slated to get the last visit in June. Gilchrist, a 6-foot-4.5, 305-pound interior lineman, is also expected to visit Maryland the final weekend of March for a spring practice as the Virginia lineman has been a top target for running backs coach Latrell Scott this cycle with mutual interest dating back to the fall. Gilchrist last made his way to College Park for the Virginia game last fall as the Terps rolled out the red carpet.

“It was amazing. I felt like I didn’t have to put on an act. I could just be myself,” Gilchrist told IBG following his visit. “Coach Locks, we’ve talked before but when we did communicate, it wasn’t in-depth. But I will say our pregame talk we had, it kind of went in-depth. Some of the things he said that stuck out was the real family emphasis, making me feel at home away from home. That’s what I felt was the biggest thing to me. And not only that, he talked about life after football because football isn’t everything.” Gilchrist will be far from the only lineman on campus as Good Counsel duo Eidan Buchanan and Gavin Crawford are in the process of finalizing visits to Maryland. While Crawford has Michigan State and West Virginia alongside Maryland in his top group, Buchanan is planning official visits to Rutgers and West Virginia and "maybe Virginia Tech" in addition to plans to return to College Park. Meanwhile, Gonzaga (DC) cornerback Devenchi Arnold tells IBG that he's planning official visits to Boston College, Duke and Syracuse. Maryland could have a return visitor when spring ball begins on March 26, though, as Matoaca (VA) three-star defensive lineman Caleb Williams is eyeing a practice in College Park as the Terps have made themselves a familiar face over the last two years. For now, Williams is set to visit Tennessee on March 23 for a return trip and then make his first visit to Texas beginning April 6. Meanwhile, Edison (FL) cornerback Jett White tells IBG he plans to make his way back to Maryland for the spring game, potentially marking his first visit to Maryland since the fall of 2022. Maryland currently has three commitments in the 2025 cycle in White, St. Joe's Prep (PA) IOL Kahlil Stewart and Central Catholic (PA) DT Braheem Battles.
