After opening at 2.5 points, then moving to 3.5, Maryland is now a seven-point favorite against Michigan State, a team they haven't beaten since 2016. Can Maryland flip the script while donning the Terps Script uniforms in the first game at SECU Stadium? Notes heading into the rest of the week. Injuries picking up…Maryland entered Saturday without linebacker Ruben Hyppolite and defensive back Glen Miller, then receiver Rakim Jarrett and QB Taulia Tagovailoa exited the game in the second half. Maryland has been able to avoid season-ending injuries thus far, but the injuries are picking up heading to the midway point of the season at both linebacker and secondary as guys rack up hits. Still, there’s a better chance that Hyppolite suits up this week, though I still don’t expect to see Glen Miller just yet. The big ones are WR Rakim Jarrett and QB Taulia Tagovailoa. Jarrett’s status is up in the air and Taulia will stay patient this week but one contact expressed optimism that he’ll suit up this weekend. We’re working on confirmation on whether Rakim or Taulia were at Monday’s practice, but media will be in attendance for the open portion of Tuesday’s practice. We’ll get official word from Locksley, too. Next steps…Maryland will turn the page to welcome Michigan State inside SECU Stadium next weekend in what could be a weekend that draws its biggest visitor list to-date. Varina (VA) duo Lamar “LJ” Booker and Elijah Brown are slated to visit this weekend, in-state receiver Ezekiel Avit will make the short trip back to campus for his third game this fall. Current South Carolina pledge Cam Upshaw, who is missing his entire senior season, says he still intends on visiting while 2024 teammates Evan Austin and Dominic Nichols are slated to make their way to campus. A potential flip target who could visit? Rico Walker, a current four-star prospect committed to North Carolina, is looking into transportation to make his first game in College Park this fall. Still kicking…Maryland was in to see Tennessee four-star commit Cam Seldon just nine days ago and contacts say he’s still been in daily contact with Maryland even after his decision. Others have expressed that he’s firm with his current status but the staff is pushing to get him and his cousin, Denzel Palmer, on campus for a game this fall. He’s a name to keep in the back of your mind through the cycle as he was one of the top overall targets for the staff this cycle and have strong rapport with the entire family. NIL played a hand in his initial commitment, so we’ll see what the Vols can do down the stretch as they enter week five a perfect 4-0 and inside the AP top ten.
