Veteran lineman elects to hit transfer portal

Maryland now has one more spot along the offensive line to fill for the 2023 season.

Two-year starter Mason Lunsford has announced he will enter the transfer portal. After drawing his first career start in the 2020 season finale, the former Good Counsel product became a mainstay in the starting rotation over the last two seasons. Lunsford entered the spring as one of two returning starters along the offensive line, joining right tackle DJ Glaze, as offensive line coach Brian Braswell works to restock the room. https://twitter.com/lunsford_mason/status/1626947734916808705?s=46&t=yEVrMHR5-hvdAq3EsdjNbw

Lunsford, a former three-star prospect out of Good Counsel, inked with Maryland during the 2019 class shortly after Mike Locksley was announced as head coach. Maryland kept the pipeline to the WCAC school alive after four-stars Neeo Avery and Dylan Gooden inked with the program on signing day in December.

Maryland was an active player in the portal this offseason at the position, inking Marcus Dumervil (LSU), Gottlieb Ayedze (Frostburg) and Corey Bullock (NCCU), to replace the three linemen now off to the NFL.
