Maryland saw a pair of Terps selected in the 2023 PLL College draft on Wednesday night as Brett Makar and Kyle Long will continue their careers at the pro level. Makar was selected third overall to the Atlas Lacrosse Club and was the third close defender selected in the draft. Makar is a two-time Big Ten defensive player of the year as well as a first team and second-team All-American. Throughout his career, Makar has 57 caused turnovers and 162 ground balls picked up. Makar will be joining first overall pick Gavin Adler to solidify the Atlas' defense. Both Adler and Makar are two tough and physical defenders that look to wear you down all game long. Long was selected 27th overall to the Atlas Lacrosse Club where he will join Makar. Long is a two-time second-team All-Big Ten midfielder as well as a third-team All-American. Throughout his career, Long is the Terps all time assister from the midfield position with 91 assists as well as 54 goals to his name. Long is a midfielder that is great at finding the open man and making accurate passes to set up scores. Long will join an offense with a plethora of talent in Jeff Teat, Chris Gray, and fellow rookie Xander Dickson in which will give Long plenty of options to assist to this upcoming season. Makar and Long will start their pro careers June 3rd at 1PM on ABC when they will take on the Redwoods Lacrosse Club. But until then they will look to add another national championship to their college resume with the Terps this May. Related Links
