TV, kickoff details announced for Maryland football's homecoming game vs. Indiana

Details for this season’s homecoming game have officially been announced as Maryland football will host Indiana for a 3:30 PM kickoff on CBS.

Indiana is days removed not just from a 38-13 win vs. Michigan State, but also another contract extension for head coach Curt Cignetti after drawing buzz as a top candidate for the Penn State head coaching vacancy. This marked Cignetti’s second contract extension despite being in the midst of his second season with the program after Indiana announced a new deal following the 2024 College Football Playoff appearance.

Maryland will look for its first win against Cignetti in hopes of securing their fourth win over the last five matchups, though it was Indiana who won 42-28 in Bloomington last fall.

Maryland’s next game will also bring a pair of familiar faces back to SECU Stadium with RB Roman Hemby and OLB Kellan Wyatt set to return to College Park for the first time since transferring to Indiana last offseason.

Indiana moved to second nationally in Sunday’s updated AP poll with already two top-ten wins this season, the first a 63-10 vs. then-ninth ranked Illinois followed by a 30-20 win vs. then-third ranked Oregon in Eugene.

As for Maryland, they’ll look for their first top-ten win since defeating Florida State in 2004 as head coach Mike Locksley looks to end a three-game slide. Since 2021, Maryland is 3-6 in games coming out of the bye week under Locksley while sitting just 2-9 as home underdogs during that span.

“I'm not gonna ask what the issue or why this keeps happening,” Locksley said after the 20-17 loss vs. UCLA. “I'm not gonna ask why. Why is a victim question. And I'm not a victim. I'm gonna ask what we need to do, what I need to do to get us to be able to finish these games. And to me, that's a growth mindset that this team has, and I promise you, that's where we are. That's how I'm coaching them. That's what my job will be next week with the bye week coming upon us is to not say why. We're not victims, but what we can do. And me, I've always been about growth mindset.”
