Details for Maryland football’s Nov. 15 road game vs. Illinois have been announced by the Big Ten with kickoff set for 3:30 PM on FS1.
Maryland won the first two matchups before Illinois secured a 27-24 win in College Park back in 2023 in what proved to be the second of four consecutive losses. Maryland won its lone matchup in Champaign after Joseph Petrino nailed a game-winning 32-yard field goal as time expired, lifting the Terps to a 20-17 win in 2021.
Illinois are on a bye this upcoming week and sit 6-3 (3-3) after beating Rutgers, 35-13, to secure bowl eligibility for the second consecutive season under head coach Bret Bielema.
Maryland will hope to repeat the Illini’s success against Rutgers in what has now materialized into a must-win game for the Terps. It also marks the final true road game for Maryland this season with Michigan heading to College Park the week after and a neutral site matchup vs. Michigan State at Ford Field in Detroit. But for Maryland, winners against Rutgers in three of the last four years, head coach Mike Locksley will look to right the ship and string consecutive wins ahead of Senior Day.
“As I said earlier, this team will continue to fight,” Locksley said after the loss vs. Indiana. “I'll continue to coach the crap out of them. They continue to show up. I thought they put the necessary work in but just weren’t good enough today and that's on me as the head coach to make sure we’re good enough on gameday.”
Maryland will face Rutgers this week for a 2:30 PM kickoff on FS1.
