Maryland football is on its second and final bye week of the 2024 season as they prepare for top-ranked Oregon on Nov. 9, and the Big Ten announced finalized details as Maryland will face Oregon at 7 PM EST and will be broadcast on BTN.
The upcoming game will mark the first between the two teams, adding an intriguing angle to the game, while Maryland will look to reverse course on a trend.
Oregon remains a perfect 8-0 (5-0) and will travel to face Michigan this weekend.
Since Mike Locksley took over as head coach, Maryland remains winless in games following the bye week and sits ahead of only Kansas for the second-worst record against ranked opponents at 2-16. The last road win against a ranked team was against Texas in 2017, while the win at Clemson in 2008 marked the last time the feat was accomplished in conference play.
After securing the homecoming win, Maryland fell flat on the road against Minnesota in a 48-23 loss after a pair of first quarter interceptions put the Terps in an early 21-0 hole.
“I want it now and they know it and this team wants it, man. The patience is the toughest thing for me,” head coach Mike Locksley said after the loss. “I know it's tough for my bosses, it's tough for me, it's tough for everybody that loves us, because you have the success and see it a week ago, then the consistency of not being [able] to show up and build on it. And that's to me, I’m probably more disappointed that we didn't build off of what we accomplished a week ago.”
Oregon is one of two top-five teams still left on Maryland’s schedule as the Terps will head to Happy Valley to face third-ranked Penn State to close out the season on Nov. 30. Sandwiched between those ranked road matchups are home games against Iowa and Rutgers.
