Top target WR Mekahi White set to make his commitment

The wait is over as top target, King George (VA) three-star WR Mekhai White, is set to end his recruitment. White, a 6-foot-2, 180-pound wide receiver, is set to announce his commitment at 7 PM on Tuesday between a final group including Maryland, Michigan, Tennessee and Virginia Tech. https://twitter.com/mekhai_white/status/1688882839264043009?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Etweet White took a pair of official visits back in June, first to Maryland then Virginia Tech, while the Wolverines capitalized on a spring unofficial visit to vault them to number one on White’s list at the time. But the consistency from Maryland, led by wide receiver coach Gunter Brewer, has kept the Terps inside the top group throughout. One week after officially visiting Maryland, White returned to campus for an unofficial visit where he met Buffalo Bills WR Stefon Diggs during his camp inside SECU Stadium. White and his family once again returned to Maryland during the final weekend of July as White bounced around between his top schools. “It was great seeing them. I haven’t seen them in a while. They’re just telling me to make a decision whenever I’m ready,” White said following his latest visit. Along with Brewer leading the way, White was able to sit down with head coach Mike Locksley as the staff worked the close on the top local target. “We had great conversations. Not even just about football, just catching up and building the relationships.” Maryland already has a pair of wide receivers committed in Jahmari Powell-Wonson and Josiah McLaurin and sits at 17 commitments in the 2024 class heading into White’s decision. White is rated a three-star prospect and an 88 overall by On3, sitting as the 15th-best prospect in Virginia. Related Links
