With the dead period over and recruits taking their final visits ahead of the fall season, Maryland will watch a long list of regional targets make their way to College Park on Saturday. That includes several commits as the Spalding trio – QB Malik Washington, CB Jayden Shipps, DL Delmar White – North Caroline (MD) four-star ATH Zymear Smith, Milford Mill (MD) IOL Amory Hills, Riverdale Baptist (MD) DL Nahsir Taylor, Avon Old Farms (CT) DL Dante Recker and Friendship (DC) four-star DL Bryce Jenkins return to campus. The headliners are a pair of 2025 offensive line targets as Salem (VA) four-star Jaylen Gilchrist and Riverdale (MD) four-star Jayvon McFadden make their way back to campus. Maryland was on Gilchrist’s shortlist heading into official visits, but the Terps solidified themselves as a viable player in his recruitment when the top-100 prospect made his way back to College Park for his June 21 official visit alongside several other top targets. And getting Gilchrist back on campus alongside Malik Washington, a connection that’s been strengthened since their official visit, only amplifies the Terps’ chances heading into the final weekend. South Carolina has worked hard through July to hang onto their early edge while Georgia remains a player roughly one week away from his decision, but there’s been steady confidence surrounding the Terps’ chances since his late June visit. As for McFadden, there’s buzz that Ohio State has their attention elsewhere with the four-star now in holding pattern heading into August. Saturday will mark his first visit to College Park this calendar year as assistant Aazaar Abdul-Rahim continues the recruiting efforts that assistant Kevin Sumlin began in the fall. Saturday will give the four-star a chance to give the hometown program more serious consideration in his recruitment as his recruitment is expected to continue into the fall. In the 2026 class, Maryland will watch one of McFadden’s former teammates make his way to campus as St. Frances (MD) IOL Lamarcus Dillard is expected to visit. St. John’s (DC) four-star DB Hakim Satterwhite is also expected to make his way to campus with Maryland expected to be a top contender in his recruitment as Aazaar Abdul-Rahim leads the way. Hills won’t be the only one from Milford Mill (MD) to make their way to campus with dynamic ATH Damon Ferguson expected to visit, roughly one month after working out for the staff inside Jones-Hill House. Middletown (DE) WR BJ Garrett has made his way to campus for multiple home games in 2023 with offensive coordinator Josh Gattis leading the charge with the 6-foot-3 expected to return to campus on Saturday. Maryland jumped into the mix for Gonzaga (DC) two-sport star/OLB Tyson Harley heading into his sophomore year as part of the next wave of star defenders for the Eagles, making his way to College Park multiple times since then including for a spring practice. Maryland is the most recent Power Four offer for Arlington (MA) OT Brady Bekkenhuis, joining Boston College and Rutgers, after assistant Damian Wroblewski put the Terps in the mix back in May as Saturday marks his first visit. West Orange (FL) three-star Devin Jackson will make his way to campus for the first time alongside his dad after recently including Maryland in his top seven. Meanwhile, both local targets -- Dundalk (MD) OT Greg Maddox and Spalding (MD) CB Sean Johnson — are still expected to visit on Saturday. Seneca Valley (PA) TE Adam Gehm is also expected to visit, though he doesn’t hold an offer with Wisconsin, Toledo, Syracuse and Miami (OH) involved early. In the 2027 class, Coatesville Area (PA) Max Hiller is coming off a Friday visit to Penn State and will return to campus one month after camping in College Park.
