Top-150 prospect talks possible visit, early relationships with Maryland

There aren’t many teams in the country who have a defense as talented as Good Counsel’s heading into the fall with a handful of 2024 three and four-star prospects leading the Falcons’ roster. But the rising seniors aren’t the only stars for the Falcons as 2025 four-star safety Faheem Delane will be one of the leaders with aspirations to solidify himself among the best defensive backs nationally. The 6-foot-1.5, 196-pound safety has one goal heading into his junior season: “The goal is to win a ring this year, always.” As one of a handful of freshmen on the team back in 2021, Delane has already become a name to know in the DMV next cycle with Alabama, Florida, Florida State, LSU, Michigan, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Penn State, USC and Virginia Tech among the 25-plus schools who have already offered the four-star prospect. Delane released a top eleven in the spring with USC, Ohio State, Penn State, Oregon, Florida State, Virginia Tech, South Carolina, Alabama, LSU, Maryland and Florida still in the mix, but with fall camp around the corner, there’s only one school under consideration for a visit. “I might go to Maryland because it’s so close but besides that, I’m not really traveling because of camp,” Delane added. “James Thomas and coach Marcus , they told me about it.” Delane was back in College Park for the 7-on-7 during the first weekend of June where he was able to connect with the staff, including head coach Mike Locksley. “I talked to coach , coach , coach Zac , coach Baker. It’s good. They definitely have my interest because they produce . They had Nick Cross, but they sent two more DBs to the league this year so that’s big.” Outside linebacker coach James Thomas is leading the way as the Terps work to build on last year’s success out of the Olney powerhouse. “He’s a great recruiter, great coach, great person. I’ve talked to coach Spavital too. We had a meeting when he first got there so we’ve gotten to know each other.” Outside of a potential visit to Maryland later this month, Delane does not have any visits planned heading into the fall. Delane is rated a four-star prospect and a 90 overall by On3, sitting as the fourth-best player in Maryland. Related Links
