The List: Top Locals, Prospects Committed Elsewhere Visiting Maryland for Michigan State Game

Maryland faces arguably its biggest home game of the season thus far, which naturally drew its most impressive visitor list to-date with multiple priority targets on campus. We break down the list: 2023 Good Counsel (MD) four-star OLB Dylan Gooden Northeast (PA) three-star OT Naquil Betrand (Texas A&M verbal) Lackawanna (PA) OL Elijah Philippe Lackey (MD) CB Jamari Somerville Skinny: Maryland has always been in the picture for Gooden, but have steadily increased contact through the summer into fall and did enough to postpone his decision until the fall. With OLB/ST assistant James Thomas leading the way, the Terps are now viewed as the team to beat in his recruitment with Rutgers, also known as little brother, the original top team. Betrand, meanwhile, was a target that looked to become a name to know heading into summer with his previous verbal to Colorado very much up in the air and a transfer to St. Frances expected. Only one of those happened, though, and Betrand is now committed to the Aggies while still at Northeast. Running backs coach Elijah Brooks is leading the efforts there as the Terps work to get into the picture, but getting him on campus is step one as the staff works to find a tackle in this class. This will be the first visit for Szymanski and second for Williams this season as the Terps have been well-positioned for both since the start of the fall, even with Williams drawing out-of-state suitors like Notre Dame. The biggest name on the list is top-ten prospect Dylan Stewart, who said that Maryland was among the most consistent teams for him prior to September 1. This will be at least his second visit to Maryland this calendar year as the Terps face an uphill climb to land him, but are a viable contender to remain in the mix. Maryland will also face an uphill climb to land Dominic Nichols, but he’ll make his first trip to campus along with Evan Austin since they visited back on July 30. Kendric Council, a high academic but thumper of a linebacker, has turned heads over the past year thanks to his basketball background and is a name to remember next cycle. So is Braydon Lee, but I’m not optimistic on their long-term chances yet. This will also be the second game of the season for Ituka, who drew Maryland assistants to his game two weeks ago before the game was called for fighting. Laws, meanwhile, was another candidate to visit back on July 30 where he likely would’ve picked up an offer but game film of his first three games did the trick as the staff extended a verbal offer this past week. Boykin is one of three visitors making the cross-country trip to check out College Park and will get face time with head coach Mike Locksley. 2025 Orange (CA) CB Jett White (USC verbal) La Habra (CA) QB Hype Grand Kempsville (VA) CB Chris Spence Skinny: Just like Boykin, White and Grand make the cross-country trip to College Park with general manager Smoke Dixon dipping into his strong west coach ties. This will mark the second trip for White after taking in a spring practice back in late March. Note: Cedar Grove (GA) took in College Park on Friday and will return on Saturday ahead of their 7 PM game vs. St. John’s (DC). Visitors include:
