Terps in the NFL: where things stand after cut day

With cut day now complete across the NFL as teams work to trim down to a 53-man roster limit, Maryland football will see nearly 20 alums suit up in week one, including three rookies.

But arguably the biggest storyline is Baltimore retaining Corey Bullock as the backup center, elevating him onto the 53-man roster one year after serving on the practice squad. "He's done a great job," offensive coordinator Todd Monken said during preseason. "When a player makes the practice squad, you try to elaborate to them that this is a one-year opportunity, maybe more, but you're here to help us practice, but also to develop. Don't take it as just, 'Hey, I go out there and read a card, and I show up at the building.' He didn't do that. He worked every day and got better every day.” Bullock serves as the lone Terp in Baltimore after safety Beau Brade was waived.

Update: a source confirms the second-year safety is headed to the New York Giants, reuniting with cornerback Deonte Banks, while getting a more favorable path to playing time in 2025.

After a pair of Terps worked to add to a Vikings wide receiver room that’s been hit with injuries through preseason, WR Tai Felton was the lone Terp to make the roster after Jeshaun Jones was waived, but the rookie wideout will face competition. With Jordan Addison suspended three games, Minnesota also traded for veteran Adam Thielen on Wednesday where he joins Felton, Justin Jefferson, Jalen Nailor, Tim Jones and Myles Price. Felton has also been in the mix for return duties while also serving as a gunner on special teams.

Felton is also one of three former Maryland receivers on an NFL roster heading into week one, joining Patriots WR Stefon Diggs and Bears WR DJ Moore. Felton is also one of three rookies on an NFL roster alongside Dolphins DL Jordan Phillips and safety Dante Trader Jr. DJ Moore is also one of two Terps in Chicago with rookie ILB Ruben Hyppolite likely in the inside linebacker rotation behind Tremaine Edmunds, TJ Edwards and Noah Sewell.

Meanwhile, Jets DL Byron Cowart was placed on IR on Wednesday, ending his 2025 season after signing a one year, $1.36 million contract earlier this offseason.
