With 21 former Maryland stars in action across the NFL, we recap how they fared in week six:
Raiders tackle DJ Glaze started his third game and impressed everyone, shutting down all-pro TJ Watt and only allowing one pressure in the 32-13 loss to Pittsburgh. Corner Jakorian Bennett had one tackle and pass defended, while receiver DJ Turner caught two passes for 37 yards. Steelers lineman Spencer Anderson also suited up in Sunday’s win.
Ty Johnson got the first touch by a Bills’ offensive player Monday night, finishing with four carries for 34 yards in a 23-20 win over the Jets.
49ers defensive tackle Sam Okuayinonu had his best game of the season, finishing with two tackles, a sack, a tackle for loss, and a QB hit, as San Francisco took the division lead after a 36-24 win over Seattle.
Meanwhile, Baltimore rookie safety Beau Brade made his season debut and finished with one tackle in Sunday’s win vs. Washington, while Yannick Ngakoue was signed to the active roster after recording his first sack since rejoining the Ravens. Ngakoue, who also registered three pressures on just 13 snaps, earned the game ball from head coach John Harbaugh postgame.
"I was watching you boys Week 1 versus the Chiefs, and I wanted to be there so much," Ngakoue said. "I'm just thankful and grateful for you guys bringing me back in. I love y'all.”
WR DJ Moore caught four passes for 20 yards, while DT Byron Cowart had two tackles and half a sack in a 35-16 London win over the Jaguars. Jacksonville safety Darnell Savage finished with two tackles but was called for a PI on Chicago’s first touchdown drive.
WR Stefon Diggs led the Texans in receiving yards with 77 on six catches and a touchdown in a 41-21 win in New England.
Browns lineman Michael Dunn took over at center following an injury to Nick Harris in a 20-16 loss to the Eagles.
In his second game with the Cardinals, kicker Chad Ryland was perfect, hitting both field goals in a 34-13 loss in Green Bay. The Cardinals followed it up by elevating Ryland to the active roster after Matt Prater was more to IR on Tuesday, giving the former four Terp at least four more games out west.
In a division rivalry, Colts safety Nick Cross had eight tackles and a tackle for loss as Indianapolis won a close one against Tennessee 20-17. Through six weeks, the former Terp sits tied for fourth in the league in tackles (60), tied with Cardinals’ safety Budda Baker for the most among defensive backs. Meanwhile, Titans tight end Chig Okonkwo had three catches for six yards and sits fifth on the team in catches (11) this season.
Another battle of division rivals, Tarheeb Still drew his first NFL start and finished with three tackles and a pass defended in the Chargers 23-16 win over Denver.
On Sunday Night, Deonte Banks and the Giants held the Bengals high-powered offense to under 20 points but couldn’t overcome their offense in a 17-7 loss. Banks finished with five tackles.
