Terps become the second offer for PA quarterback

2025 Bishop McDevitt (PA) quarterback Stone Saunders already holds a verbal offer from Michigan but got a chance to add his second after making it into College Park for last Saturday's 38-35 win over Indiana. Saunders camped for Maryland over the summer, making Saturday’s visit his second trip to campus and it didn’t take long before he added offer number two.

“It felt great, coach [Mike] Locksley talked about the future of the program and how he sees me fitting in it,” Saunders said. “Also, my parents were there with me so for them to be there it was an awesome moment.” Saunders has taken in Maryland’s facilities before but got another chance to check it out with his family. “The facilities and the energy on game day were the main differences than during the summer.”

It helped that Saunders took in a game where Maryland has their first 400-yard passer in nearly ten years. “Obviously as a quarterback, I love throwing the ball so to see how they air it out was something that would be fun to play in.”

Tight end coach Mike Miller is leading a significant portion of Maryland’s recruiting efforts in Pennsylvania and paid a visit to Saunders’s school this fall. “The coaching staff all treated me and my family great. Coach [Mike] Miller is awesome, he came down to my school a couple of weeks ago and coach Locksley is great. He seems like a great coach and leader for a team.”

Saunders will check out two more schools for game visits this fall.

“I am going to Rutgers and Penn State, those are the only ones I have scheduled right now.”

Stone led Bishop McDevitt to an 8-1 record during the regular season and posted 32 touchdowns and nearly 2,100 passing yards to just one interception. He also completed nearly 70 percent of his passes.
