Taulia named second team, nine Terps earn All-Big Ten honors on offense

One year after setting a program record for most All-Big Ten selections, Maryland saw the most players (16) earn All-Big Ten recognition and most offensive players (9) since joining the conference in 2014. Taulia Tagovailoa led the way for Maryland in Wednesday's offensive postseason award as the fourth-year starter ends his Maryland career as a second-team All-Big Ten selection by both the coaches and media, marking the second consecutive season he's done so. Tagovailoa was already named Big Ten offensive player of the week on Monday after throwing for 361 yards and four total touchdowns in the regular season finale win vs. Rutgers. Tagovailoa is the only player in Maryland history to draw Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week on four separate occasions, doing so twice in 2023. Tagovailoa set the Big Ten all-time passing record (11,256) over the weekend, surpassing former Purdue QB Curtis Painter's record, along with sitting third in completions (955) and seventh in touchdown passes (76). Taulia Tagovailoa was one of nine Maryland players honored as WR Jeshaun Jones (media), WR Tai Felton (media), TE Corey Dyches (media) and LT DJ Glaze (coaches and media) made the All-Big Ten Third Team. Maryland's five selections across the first, second and third teams is the most-ever for Maryland on offense since joining the Big Ten. OL Corey Bullock (coaches and media), WR Kaden Prather (coaches and media), RT Gottlieb Ayedze (coaches and media) and RB Roman Hemby (coaches) were all named honorable mention selections. Glaze, who was an honorable mention selection last season, has started every game over the last two seasons and become the leader in the trenches. After starting 12 games at right tackle in 2022, Glaze made the offseason switch to left tackle and became a mainstay in the trenches, grading as the second-highest rated pass-blocking tackle in the Big Ten by PFF. While Glaze was the lone mainstay on the roster, the additions of Corey Bullock and Gottlieb Ayedze out of the transfer portal loomed large as position coach Brian Braswell rebuilt the unit in 2023. Jones, the leader in Maryland's receiver room, led the team with 53 catches and 747 yards while adding four touchdowns this season, becoming the eighth player in program history to eclipse 2,000 career receiving yards. Jones enters the bowl game eight yards away from topping Dontay Demus for seventh-most in program history. Felton made the most of his opportunities in 2023, finishing third in catches (48) and second in receiving yards (723) after leading the unit with six receiving touchdowns. Prather proved himself as the big-bodied vertical threat that so many expected out of the transfer portal, finishing with 609 yards and five touchdowns on 41 catches in 2023. Prather started in eight games and played in every game this season and led Maryland with 81 receiving yards against Michigan. The Jones-Prather-Felton trio is one of two trios in FBS to each record at least 40 catches, 550 receiving yards and four receiving touchdowns. Tight end Corey Dyches sits fourth among all active tight ends in the country with 49 receptions, grading as the eighth-highest tight end in FBS (over 400 snaps) and the highest-rated receiving tight end in the Big Ten. Dyches finished second on the team in catches while adding 491 yards and a pair of touchdowns, including a 44-yard score against Rutgers. After posting the second-most rushing yards ever by a Maryland freshman, Hemby struggled in 2023 amid a retooled offensive line. Hemby led the team with 663 rushing yards while also posting 288 receiving yards and seven total touchdowns this season. Hemby was a big piece in Maryland's fourth-quarter success, rushing for 60 yards as the Terps posted over 100 rushing yards in the second half. Maryland saw six defensive players draw defensive All-Big Ten honors on Tuesday, the most since 2014, while freshman Braden Wisloski was also honored as a return specialist. Related Link
