Spread released for Maryland football's road game vs. Minnesota

Head coach Mike Locksley will look to lead Maryland football to its second road win of the season when they head to Minneapolis to face Minnesota next Saturday, Oct. 26, and they'll do so as underdogs on the road with the spread released.

Maryland enters its week nine matchup as a 3.5-point underdog, per FanDuel, with the over/under opening at 46.5.

Sitting at 4-3 (2-2) at the midway point of the season, Minnesota secured consecutive wins over two of the Big Ten’s newest members -- USC and UCLA – as the Gophers are fresh off the bye week. Minnesota is 3-2 at home in 2024.

Meanwhile, Maryland is coming off a 14-point comeback win vs. USC to move to 4-3 overall while picking up its first conference win of the season. QB Billy Edwards, WR Kaden Prather and WR Octavian Smith Jr. all set career-highs in the win while second-half plays from the defense and special teams helped the Terps claw their way back into contention.

"As I tell people around here, man, we either have to earn it or take it and this was one of those ‘take it’ games," head coach Mike Locksley said following the win. "We came in saying we're going to be aggressive. We came in saying that we were pushing all of our chips to the middle of the table to get a win and we needed this to build on. Wins like this have become our expectation and it's not talk, it really is. Our guys never once have wavered going into games and if you come watch this practice, you'll understand what I'm saying, which is why we never lost faith in ourselves or a belief in ourselves. Really love this team. I think what y'all saw is this team grow right before your eyes."

Maryland is 4-3 all-time against Minnesota, and while the two teams haven’t met since 2021, the home team has won each of the last three matchups since Mike Locksley took over as head coach. Maryland has also been outscored in the last two matchups in Minneapolis, 86-26, as the Terps look to right the ship this weekend and end their three-game slide.

Kickoff is set for 3:30 PM on FS1.
