Second wave of Maryland football 2026 class arrives in College Park

While Saturday marked the end of the third weekend of official visits, it also marked the final wave of the 2026 high school class arriving on campus.

Defensive backs Sean Johnson and Zahir Cobb join offensive tackle Jesse Moody, edge rusher Jianni Davis, tight end Brayden Marko, interior offensive lineman Jon Panagou and cornerback Ontario Washington Jr. as the final members of the 2026 class who officially arrive on campus.

Washington became the final addition in the class after the Virginia native backed out of his DII signature to ink with Maryland, announcing his decision during his official visit last weekend. One weekend later, the North Stafford standout will then serve as a player host when four-star Kenaz Sullivan, Washington's Godbrother and teammate, arrives for his official visit.

Panagou, meanwhile, announced his commitment after his spring visit finalized his reclass from 2027 to 2026 with offensive line coach Damian Wroblewski paving the way with the 6-foot-4, 305-pound guard into the spring. He's one of two high school lineman set to arrive as Moody, an offensive tackle, becomes the second signing out of Imhotep (Pa.) in as many recruiting cycles alongside rising sophomore phenom Zahir Mathis.

Davis arrives looking to build on the family name as the son of former Maryland tight end Vernon Davis, yet he's one of two out of the WCAC as former Gonzaga and All-WCAC selection Brayden Marko arrives in College Park.

Johnson and Cobb could be the two who see the field first with Johnson, a flip from Florida State late in the cycle, a versatile piece in the secondary while Cobb adds intrigue as a potential 6-foot-2.5 cornerback with length and arriving on campus closer to 200 pounds.

Cobb committed to Maryland over a handful of regional suitors, notably Penn State and Virginia, with relationships a driving force given his dad was childhood friends with assistant Aazaar Abdul-Rahim. Johnson, meanwhile, becomes the latest in a long list of Spalding products to join the program this offseason as he and his former head coach, Kyle Schmitt, re-join the sideline for another season in the end. While Maryland prioritized Johnson early in the cycle, his late-season flip materialized after a pair of visits quickly fueled momentum before ultimately joining Darrell Carey as local products to close out the high school.
