Inside linebacker has been a position of strength for Maryland over the last two seasons, and they'll get a key piece back in 2024 as veteran starter Ruben Hyppolite announces his return for another season. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MqknhDAE8Vk The Florida native was among the Terps faced with a stay-or-go decision, but his return became more apparent over the last two weeks as inside linebacker coach Lance Thompson has a veteran piece to lean on. Hyppolite will lead the linebacker room and become a key piece on Maryland's defense, while Caleb Wheatland, Daniel Wingate and Mike Harris are all expected to return for another season to round out the rotation. Hyppolite's return comes one day after the official announcement from Beau Brade as he prepares for the 2024 NFL Draft. Ruben Hyppolite is coming off arguably his best game as a Terp after posting four tackles, three solo and a pass breakup in the Music City Bowl win vs. Auburn. Hyppolite also led Maryland with seven tackles against Illinois, one week after setting a career-high with six solo tackles against Ohio State. Hyppolite has started in 34 games in his career after appearing in four of his five games as a freshman during the COVID-shortened 2020 season. He finished with 66 tackles, 2.5 TFLs and one sack this season and has registered 152 total tackles, 4.5 TFLs and four pass deflections in his career. Hyppolite, a former four-star signee out of McArthur (FL), signed with Maryland in the 2020 class and became an integral piece in Mike Locksley's rebuild in College Park. Related Links
