Riverdale Baptist four-star IOL Jayvon McFadden previews Saturday decision

Four-star lineman Jayvon McFadden has had buzz around his name ever since he began his high school career at St. John’s (DC), lining up alongside former five-star Jordan Seaton as he entrenched himself as an early name to know in the 2025 cycle. After drawing nearly 30 verbal offers over the next three years, now McFadden is set to go public with his decision on Saturday as the 6-foot-4, 270-pound lineman will announce among a final group including Colorado, Maryland, Ohio State and South Carolina.

“Those are the places that felt like home, the places that I felt could develop me into the best player on and off the field. I have great relationships with all the coaches at all those schools and they all feed me the same message in a different kind of way,” McFadden told IBG. “I feel comfortable with those guys.”

McFadden is still working to finalize an announcement time with Riverdale Baptist set to open their season against Conwell-Egan Catholic (PA) at 2 PM. “I’m not 100% sure if I’m going to announce before or after yet but I know it’ll be on Saturday,” he added.

McFadden took one official visit back in June as Ohio State hosted him the first weekend of June, while his most recent unofficial visit was to Maryland back on July 27.

He breaks down his finalists:

Colorado: “Jordan [Seaton] there is a factor but everybody has their own path at the end of it, but Jordan is my guy. I want him to do the best. I like what they’re doing there. I like how they run things. From the outside looking in to the outside, they’re just running like a high-powered program. When I went out there, I saw they’re about their stuff, about their business. The [offensive] line coach doesn’t play any games. He wants them to do their best every single snap. If you go out there, you expect to play with the best and compete with the best.”

Maryland: “It was great getting back to Maryland. It’s always great when I’m there. Coach Locksley is a good person. He’s an even better person than he is a coach. He’s one of those type of guys you can always call, talk to, kind of get the real. I respect coach [Mike] Locksley 100%. And I’ve built a really good relationship with coach [Brian] Braswell.”

Ohio State: “coach Ryan Day said to me the best way to put it. When you come to Ohio State, you’re coming for the best. They expect you to be the best, they expect you to dress the best, they expect you to walk around the best. Everything about Ohio State, you’ve got to think big.”

South Carolina: “I haven’t been out there recently but they’re a great place for me because they’re always consistent. They always come out. We’re always on the phone. I feel like coach Lonnie Teasley is a very good coach. It speaks for itself what he does.”

Jayvon McFadden is rated a four-star prospect and a 90 overall by On3, checking in as the seventh-best prospect in Maryland and the nation’s 24th-best interior offensive lineman.
