St. Frances (MD) composite four-star running back DeJuan Williams has committed to Maryland, becoming the fifth commit in a seven-day stretch for head coach Mike Locksley and the staff. Williams, a 5-foot-11, 195-pound running back, committed to Maryland over Boston College with Cincinnati, Oregon, Pitt, Stanford, Syracuse and Virginia Tech rounding out his top group. "It’s close to home, close to my family," Williams told IBG before going public. "They can come to all my home games and I’m playing at the biggest conference, Big Ten." Williams officially visited Boston College the weekend of June 16 then Maryland the weekend of June 23 before giving his verbal to the Terps' staff on June 25. Williams now becomes the first running back in Maryland's 2024 class as the Terps have added at least one St. Frances prospect in each of the last five recruiting cycles. Inside linebacker coach Lance Thompson has been a mainstay throughout Williams' recruitment while the spring gave him a chance to fortify his relationship with running backs coach Latrell Scott. "I’ve got a good bond with coach Scott. I’m excited for him to work with me." Williams gives the running back room an every down back and asset in both the run and passing attack, a trait that Maryland coveted this cycle. As a junior, Williams split snaps with now-Charlotte running back Durell Robinson where he posted over seven yards per carries and a pair of rushing touchdowns. Williams is rated a three-star prospect and an 89 overall by On3, sitting as the 12th-best prospect in Maryland. Related Links
