QB Robert Long Commits to Maryland

Maryland’s first 2023 commit is in.

St. Peter’s Prep QB Robert Long has announced his commitment to Maryland after camping for Maryland earlier this week. The 6-foot, 200-pound quarterback held offers from UMass, Old Dominion, and Temple with Penn State and South Carolina showing interest.

The verbal helps the Terps’ bolster the quarterback room with Long joining Jayden Sauray and AJ Swann as future quarterbacks under offensive coordinator Dan Enos. An early quarterback commitment helps address another key positional need next cycle as the Terps look to bring in at least one scholarship quarterback per cycle in order to maintain depth.

Long was also a standout performer at the Roman’s Soldiers Showcase back in April as 247Sports east coast analyst Brian Dohn scouted the dual-threat quarterback in person. “His arm strength was evident early on and he is calm and confident. He threw a few beautiful deep balls and showed the ability to throw the ball on a rope outside of the numbers. He looked like a well-drilled player. The fall should be his first as a varsity starter but he already holds offers from Maryland, Old Dominion, and Temple,” Dohn added.

Cornerbacks coach Henry Baker ran point in Long’s recruitment.
