QB Nate Tapley talks offseason goals, QB Factory training

2025 quarterback Nate Tapley made the midseason transfer from Broadneck to Stephen Decatur where he watched his new team defeat Huntingtown (MD), 21-13, to capture the 2A state championship. For Tapley, watching Decatur win a ring with him on the sideline tested his patience as he found a new love for the game. “That was not fun, not being able to play,” Tapley said. “Growing up I always said I want to play quarterback in college but after waiting for that long to play and not being able to play, I realized my main goal is to play college football at any position. Tapley wasn’t able to practice with his new team either due to transfer rules, but he hasn’t wasted time this offseason building a rapport with his skill players. “I’ll go out with some of my guys on personal time and just go out and throw. I feel that I just need to have a consistent season. With all the guys we have returning from this past season, I feel like we have a great shot. It’s not really all about me playing well, it’s about all the other guys too and I have 100% trust that we can go out and get another championship ring.” Tapley has also kept his training with Quarterback Factory part of his routine and remains a familiar face at Athletic Performance, Inc. in Gambrills, MD. “I’ve been going every other week because it’s two, two and a half hours away, I go there and I get a lot of reps and it just keeps me consistent with throwing.” Learn more about QB Factory and upcoming training sessions here! Tapley may switch up his routine in the spring and give unified bocce ball a go in addition to his training. “My coach and his son, Brycen Coleman, were thinking about doing it and asked me and told them it sounds like fun,” he added. On the field, Tapley will look ahead to college camps with his first coming up in March. “I know a couple of high academic schools have been reaching out. I’ve already signed up for two or three college camps, think the first one is in March.”
