After securing their third win over their last five games, Maryland men’s basketball will now look for its second road win of the month when they take on 12th-ranked Nebraska in the lone matchup between the two teams this season.
This also marks the first matchup between head coaches Buzz Williams and Fred Hoiberg since the opening round of the 2025 NCAA Tournament when Texas A&M downed Nebraska, 98-83.
Maryland has dominated the all-time series, 14-4, though will look to avoid their 13th conference loss, which would be tied for the most since 1992-93, though the program has twice tallied 13 Big Ten losses since the COVID season.
Nebraska, meanwhile, opened the season as one of the country’s biggest success stories after starting 20-0 featuring a two-point win over Michigan State, a 30-point win over Wisconsin and three-point win at Illinois. That hot start came to an end in a three-point loss at Michigan back on Jan. 27, but it’d also mark the first blemish for a Huskers team that has struggled to find the same success as the first half of the season. The Huskers would open February with a nine-point home loss against Illinois, the first of three losses through the month, before rebounding with a 23-point win against Penn State on Saturday.
Iowa transfer Pryce Sandford leads the way as one of four players averaging double figures with 17.9 points per game, while Rienk Mast is one of two averaging over five rebounds per game with a team-high 6.2 points per game.
Andre Mills will look to spearhead the Terps’ scoring efforts once again after being named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week, averaging 30 points to help Maryland split its two games last week.
