It's gameday with Maryland men's basketball back on the road as head coach Buzz Williams looks to guide his team to their first win outside of College Park since the win vs. UNLV on Nov. 24 to open the Players Era Festival.

Maryland has won 17 of the 20 matchups against Minnesota, including 11 of the last 12, though it was Minnesota who pulled out the win in the last game inside Williams Arena.

Maryland will also look to pick up just its second win in 2026 as they look to snap a four-game losing streak, being outscored by an average of 30.5 points during that span. Minnesota, meanwhile, is fresh off snapping a seven-game losing streak after beating tenth-ranked Michigan State, 76-73, on Wednesday night for arguably the second signature win to open the Niko Medved era.

Gophers guard Cade Tyson enters the matchup leading both teams in scoring and ranking fifth in the Big Ten with 19.8 points per game, including 16.5 points in conference games, and doing so while shooting over 49% from the field and nearly 39% from deep. Tyson is one of four Gophers averaging double figures this season, though Maryland could have a chance to control the glass against one of the Big Ten’s worst rebounding teams.

Sunday also marks the first of four road games for Maryland this month including three over the next ten days as head coach Buzz Williams looks to stop the bleeding.

Sunday also marks Maryland’s first matchup against head coach Niko Medved since Derik Queen’s buzzer beater to lift the Terps over Colorado State, 72-71, to punch their ticket into the Sweet 16 during the 2024-25 season.
