Portal Target High on Maryland Ahead of Official Visit to Maryland

Maryland head coach Mike Locksley has made it perfectly clear that the offensive line remains the top priority heading into the offseason and an experienced tackle with local roots entered the transfer portal right before New Year’s Eve as the staff quickly pounced. For North Carolina Central tackle Corey Bullock, staying closer to home is something he holds in high regard and it helps that he’s hearing from his former high school coach. While he graduated from Gwynn Park, Bullock began his high school career on the freshman team at DeMatha so getting recruited by running backs coach Elijah Brooks has given him a full circle moment. “I was on the freshman team while he was the head coach for the varsity program. We didn’t talk as much while there. But since leaving Central, he has been in contact with me every other day almost,” Bullock told IBG. Brooks has been the sole coach in contact from Maryland’s end and the overall message has been simple with a need for a tackle. “Getting our guys from the Maryland area to stay home and win the Big Ten championship.” With the consistent pursuit, Bullock was quick to pencil in an official visit to Maryland for the weekend of January 13. He’ll look to learn more about Maryland’s criminal justice program heading into his final year of eligibility, but for now, the trip to Maryland is the lone official visit he’s scheduled. Bullock admitted there’s a good chance he’ll have a decision by the end of the weekend. “Growing up as a kid I always wanted to be a Terp so now I’m blessed with the opportunity to go on an official visit.” Bullock has one year of eligibility after becoming a consistent starter dating back to his freshman season. Bullock appeared in eight games and started four as a true freshman before becoming an All-MEAC second team selection over the 2021 season after allowing just one sack. Bullock ended his career at North Carolina Central as an HBCU All-American after paving the way to defeat Jackson State in the championship.
