Highland Springs (VA) quarterback Khristian Martin is set to move into College Park this weekend, he tells IBG, as the Virginia native transitions into the next phase of his playing career. Martin, a 6-foot-3, 215-pound signee, committed to Maryland over Virginia with Virginia Tech and Texas A&M also involved as both Josh Gattis and Latrell Scott teamed up to ink its quarterback in the 2024 cycle. Martin ended his high school career as one of the most accomplished quarterbacks out of Virginia in recent years, losing just one game over his last two seasons and leading Highland Springs to a perfect 15-0 record as a junior after throwing for 2,388 yards and 43 total touchdowns to just one interception. Now in College Park, Martin joins a quarterback room looking to finalize its starter for the 2024 season as MJ Morris and Billy Edwards Jr. lead the way in the battle for the starting job. Martin won't be the only freshman arriving on campus as St. Frances (MD) fringe four-star cornerback Kevyn "Kerm" Humes tells IBG he'll arrive on campus on Monday. Maryland led the way with Humes, a 5-foot-11, 185-pound cornerback, ever since co-defensive coordinator Aazaar Abdul-Rahim arrived in College Park. Humes took a pair of unofficial visits to College Park before announcing his commitment and taking his subsequent official visit. After committing to Maryland over Syracuse, Penn State, Notre Dame and Alabama as his finalists, Humes now arrives in College Park with a chance to disrupt the cornerback rotation as a potential early contributor as a nickel corner. Humes, who also competed in St. Frances' track and field team, was named a second-team All-Metro selection following the 2023 season before becoming the first athlete in Maryland state history to reclassify up, moving from the 2025 class into the Terps' signed 2024 class. Humes became the second Panther to join Maryland's 2024 class, joining former four-star and early enrollee running back DeJuan Williams. Meanwhile, the rest of the 2024 class is expected to arrive on campus beginning June 15 while the rest of the team heads back to campus early next week with summer workouts around the corner.
