As reported by Inside the Black & Gold, Salesianum (DE) offensive lineman Joseph Simmons made it into College Park on Monday for an individual workout where he got a chance to work closely for offensive line coach Brian Braswell. The 6-foot-6, 295-pound lineman was identified over the spring as the Terps build their offensive tackle board.
Simmons impressed during the workout to entrench himself on Maryland’s recruiting board. “They went will. Did good in the drills and ok in testing,” Simmons told Inside the Black & Gold. His trip to campus also gave him an opportunity to connect with the Terps’ staff in person, where it will be the first but not likely the last time that the Delaware target makes it to campus.
“It went well. They said they would try to get me out on an official. Got a chance to talk to coach [Locksley] and coach Braswell in person.” Simmons also took a short tour of the new indoor facility just prior to the workout as he had his favorite part.
“Definitely the cafeteria.”
Maryland hosted Simmons on a virtual visit in late March and is already familiar with the program. “I’m pretty comfortable with them. I had been there and it’s pretty close so I pretty much know what it’s about and everything. I would still look at a school that’s pretty far but it’s where I’d like it to be.”
Simmons also holds verbal offers from Florida International, UMass, Kent State, and Monmouth.
