Non-rev report: Maryland men's soccer faces UConn, WBB secures ranked win in Puerto Rico

Men’s Soccer

Maryland men’s soccer is set for game two of its postseason run with the second consecutive game in College Park, this time against 13th-seed UConn.

Kickoff is set for 1 PM on ESPN+.

This marks the 11th all-time matchup between the two teams with Maryland a perfect 4-0 against the Huskies in College Park. UConn is coming off its first NCAA Tournament win since 2018 after taking down Cornell 3-1.

Maryland is nearly one week removed from taking down North Carolina in penalty kicks after the two teams were deadlocked at one goal through regulation and extra time. It would be goalkeeper Laurin Mack to deliver the game-winning kick to get Maryland back in the win column.

Maryland enters Saturday standing at 12-1-4 in 2025.

Volleyball

With only one game left, Maryland volleyball has not secured a win since early October and has remained on a losing skid after three more defeats to 19th-ranked Minnesota, 24th-ranked Penn State and Washington, losing all three sets in each match.

The Terps, 8-21 overall and 1-18 in the Big Ten, have a chance to finish the season with a victory on senior day and its last home game against Oregon.

Women’s Basketball

7th-ranked Maryland women’s basketball finished the Discover Puerto Rico Classic with a 2-0 record, with wins over 16th-ranked Kentucky 74-66, and Hofstra, 95-38, marking the second consecutive season the Terps have remained undefeated through their first nine games.

Maryland held the lead against Kentucky from start to finish. Senior Yarden Garzon was on fire in the first half, giving the Terps an 11-point lead with 12 points before halftime. The Wildcats went unbeaten and left with their first loss of the season to Maryland.

Twelve different Maryland players scored against Hofstra. Freshman Marya Boiko posted a career-high 10 points, and the Terps capitalized on turnovers, scoring 41 points off 20 Wildcat turnovers.

Senior Kaylene Smikle had a strong performance throughout the tournament, finishing with 35 points.

The Terps will return home to face Mount St. Mary’s on Dec. 3, with tipoff at 7 p.m.
