2025 Don Bosco (NJ) cornerback Marquet Dorsey Jr. made his way to Maryland back in June, when he picked up the offer, to give him a baseline expectation of the program. He returned in late July for an unofficial visit where he got a chance to know the staff in a more casual environment, but Saturday gave Dorsey, his mom and mentor another perpsective on the program. Dorsey was able to check out the facilities and connect with the coaches before making his way into SECU Stadium. The consistency from cornerbacks coach Henry Baker since the early June offer has kept Maryland in Dorsey’s top group as the 6-foot defensive back has built a strong rapport with both his lead recruiter and position coach. “I feel like he’s straightforward. He doesn’t sugarcoat,” Dorsey said of Baker. “He’ll tell you what he likes about you, what you need to work on, what you need to improve on, what your strong suits are and what aren’t. Great to see him again, then getting to see him in that environment.” What has Maryland told Dorsey they like about him? “He said he loves lengthy corners.” Dorsey was able to keep a close eye on the secondary, both on and off the field. “I loved it. The coaching, everything, the players. They all work together. On third down they did a little money sign. The little details about the game, I loved it.” Marquet Dorsey carries a double-digit offer list into the fall with Arizona State, Duke, Florida, Penn State, Pitt and Stanford among the schools to pull the trigger. Both Penn State and Syracuse join Maryland in hosting the defensive back for games this fall, while Dorsey adds he doesn’t have any upcoming visits set. With a chance to check out the program in a pair of settings, Dorsey admitted Maryland is among his top suitors midway through his junior year. “Maryland is definitely a school I’m considering. Marquet Dorsey is not yet rated by On3 but is a three-star and 86 overall by 247Sports.
