Multiple Maryland men's lacrosse stars earn All-Big Ten honors

Five Terps saw their names selected when the Big Ten released its lacrosse postseason awards this week with Brett Makar, Ajax Zappitello, Luke Wierman, Braden Erksa and Teddy Dolan honored. Makar, Zappitello and Wierman were named first-team All-Big Ten. Makar not only was first-team All-Big Ten but was also named Big Ten Defender of the Year for the second year in a row. This season, Makar finished third in the conference with 1.42 caused turnovers per game while Wierman led the conference in ground balls picked up per game with 8.67 as well as total face-offs won with 191. Zappitello led the conference in caused turnovers per game with 1.75 leading the team in total caused turnovers as well. Attackman Braden Erksa and goalie Teddy Dolan also received postseason honors as well. Erksa was named the Big Ten Freshman of the year. Erksa finished the regular season leading the Terps with 32 total points off of 17 goals and 15 assist. Teddy Dolan was named as the teams Sportsmanship Honoree. Dolan came in for Logan McNaney after his injury late in the Loyola game and started the next game against Syracuse. However, The week after Ruppel was given the nod to start over Dolan but Dolan has showed nothing but support for the freshman goalie since. Maryland is set to take on Rutgers in the Quarterfinals of the Big Ten tournament on Saturday, April 29th at College Park.
