Mike Locksley to throw out first pitch at Orioles game today

Three days removed from taking the podium at Big Ten Media Days in Indianapolis, Maryland football head coach Mike Locksley will make the short trip north to Baltimore on Sunday to throw out the ceremonial first pitch at the Baltimore Orioles game today. Locksley will take the field ahead of the game's scheduled start at 1:35 PM, while he is also expected to join both the MASN crew and the Orioles Radio Network during their game broadcasts. Sunday also marks the team's third annual Mo Gaba Day. As Locksley heads back to the Charm City ahead of fall camp set to begin on July 31, it'll be another opportunity to strengthen the program's brand in the city after teaming up with Morgan State for a spring practice earlier this year. "That Baltimore region of our state is an area that is really fruitful, has had a bunch of players that have come here and had great success. And so it’s an opportunity for us to take the Maryland football brand up to Baltimore which we haven’t done. We used to play a game every other year. I’d definitely like to get back to that, but we are taking one of our spring practices on Saturday, on April 6th up there and we’re partnering with coach Wilson. And they are gracious hosts up there for what’s known as Baltimore Day. We’re going to continue to work to do things like this to take the Maryland football brand throughout the DMV area." Maryland opens the 2024 season on Saturday, August 31 at home against UConn.
