ESPN names Maryland WR Tai Felton top-100 player in 2024 college football season

ESPN ranked their top 100 players from the 2024 season and to no surprise, WR Tai Felton was the lone Terp selected.

Felton, a former three-star in the 2021 class, was ranked the 11th-best wide receiver and 85th-best player overall in 2024 after his record-setting season.

ESPN: “On a team with mediocre QB play, Felton still managed to become one of the most reliable receivers in the country. He finished the season with 1,124 receiving yards, 9 touchdowns and 96 catches, tying Travis Hunter for the fourth most in college football. Felton had five 100-yard games and six games with at least nine catches. Felton racked up the fourth-most yards-after-catch in the country among wide receivers, and his 56 catches for a first down ranked third among wideouts.” – Hale

Felton’s senior year rewrote Maryland’s record book where he became the standout piece in the offense, bailing out Maryland’s offense after QB Billy Edwards Jr. struggled to establish a vertical threat in the passing game amid the offensive line’s struggles through conference play.

It didn’t take long for Felton to make a name for himself on the national stage, though, after breaking off a 75-yard touchdown catch and run in the season opening win vs. UConn after finishing with a career-high 178 receiving yards and two touchdowns on seven catches. It would mark the first of five 100-yard receiving games in 2024 while the Virginia native led the Big Ten in receiving and yards through the regular season.
