Maryland Tracking Local 6-Foot-7 Athlete

DeMatha (MD) athlete Terez Davis is getting his first glimpse at a big role this season, lining up at both tight end and defensive tackle. The 6-foot-7, 250-pound prospect flashes strong potential with his frame and natural athleticism, while his sheer size has some projecting him as an offensive tackle.

Maryland has been tracking Davis through his senior season and invited him to campus for the SMU game. “It was a crazy experience. I got to meet the players, go down to meet the defensive line coach,” he told Inside the Black and Gold.

Roughly two weeks later, lead recruiter Elijah Brooks moved forward with a verbal offer. Maryland didn’t necessarily offer at a particular position, but for Davis, it was an offer he was excited about.

“They said since I’m 2024, they have time to decide to see and then pick. UCF did the same thing,” he added. “It was kind of crazy because some of my coaches were telling me I’m going to be really good and I’m going to have a lot of offers to pick from, but when Maryland offered, I was crazy surprised because it’s a Power Five school and that blew my mind away.”

Davis returned to Maryland over the weekend where he got a closer look at his position groups. “I look at the defensive tackles mostly. Then the tight ends, I’ve been watching CJ Dippre mostly.” His attention to how both fit into the scheme stuck out. “I feel like I fit in good. I have good size already, I still have a year to develop. I think it’ll be really good at the next level.”

Davis returned to campus for the Purdue game and got a closer look at the pregame routine. “I went before then I walked down the tunnel with the players, that was pretty nice.” Before that, he got a chance to meet with head coach Mike Locksley. “That was good. He’s a really good coach.”

Davis is high on the Terps early and breaks down what sticks out to him. “Maryland right now, it feels like home. It’s nice because my family lives here. It’s close. I live about 10, 15 minutes from College Park. They’re recruiting me heavily, texting me every day, coach Brooks checking up on me. It’s been really nice.”

Davis hopes to visit UCF this fall while more schools are on his radar.

“I talked to Pittsburgh , I’m going to head up there in the spring. Boston College, South Carolina, I’ve been talking to a couple of schools.”
